From Selfie to Self Expression

The Saatchi Gallery is one of my favourite galleries, it’s always interesting, regularly fashion focused and its free. I recently visited their current exhibition “From Selfie to Self Expression” which was perfect for any Instagram loving blogger.

DSC02315.JPG

The exhibit explores selfies through the ages, from self portraits to a room filled with a projection of your tubers and selfies. The exhibit also looks at those selfies that you cant believe are quite real….and usually aren’t.

There are also several interactive pieces that are really fun. This exhibit is not one to miss and runs until the 23rd July.

Although I’m in Chelsea nearly every day I could resist my own self expression in my floral Topshop dress  with the famous Pink House in Chelsea.

Fierce Festival Style

Might Hoopla definitely made it onto the list of my Summer highlights!!! A full day of fabulous campy popness! From Spice Girl tributes, All Saints, Bongo’s Bingo and the beyond amazing Years and Years closing the show. I loved it!

Photo 07-06-2017, 12 52 34.jpg

As soon as my friend asked me to go I started planning my outfit. As I was flicking through Instagram stumbled across a picture of Ferne McCann in a pair of star print flares and fell in love! I clicked through and found Willows Call.

Photo 07-06-2017, 12 39 08

Willows Call is an independent fashion label that takes inspiration from models, musicians and their groupies from past decades and injects it with the attitude of today. I found this Cosmic Jumpsuit and HAD TO HAVE IT!!!!

Photo 04-06-2017, 19 03 46Photo 05-06-2017, 08 45 22Photo 07-06-2017, 12 46 02

All day i was stopped and asked where I got my outfit and was living my Cher crossed with Britney crossed with 70’s fabulousness fantasy! I cannot wait to order my next piece although I’m praying the star flares or jumpsuit come back into stock. All of the pieces are reasonably priced with my jumpsuit priced at £65.  You will need to order in advance, orders can take 2 weeks to arrive so order early to avoid disappointment.

I just wish I had gone all the way with glitter highlight, hair glitter and teddy bear buns, maybe next time!

Travel Inspo – Valencia

Recently I went on the most fabulous girls weekend to Valencia, not your usual choice girls weekend venue but it was perfect. The city is filled with pastel coloured buildings, orange trees and cute cobbled streets so there is a Instagram opportunity around every corner.

DSC02643

Photo 30-04-2017, 09 47 36

Although Valencia hasn’t been over ran by tourist yet the city is still ready to party with beach clubs, boat tours (with sparkilie provided) and great night life. I would recommend the Marina beach club for sun, sea and cocktails. Cafe Negrito for relaxed alfresco drinks and Fox Congo for some late night dancing.

DSC02338Photo 29-04-2017, 12 31 56

If you are looking for a more relaxed weekend the most popular way to get around is by bicycle and you can cycle straight from the city centre to the beach via an orange tree filled park which was originally a river. There is a busy beach promenade with bars, restaurants and a fun fare so there is lots to see and do at the beach as well as in the city.

Photo 29-04-2017, 12 41 14DSC02459

We stayed at the Cathedral Suites  Hotel which was perfect, right in the centre and each room is a mini apartment complete with kitchen and sitting area. The hotel has a quaint restaurant/bar on the roof top and a small roof top pool. The price was very reasonable at £125 per night and it was worth every penny.

Photo 29-04-2017, 14 24 52Photo 28-04-2017, 19 05 51

I was only in Valencia for 2 days so didn’t get to experience the full city but cannot wait to go back! I would recommend this for a romantic city break or a fun girly weekend either way you will love Valencia.

5 Things You Must Do In Paris!

I’ve been to Paris a few times now and love it more each time! The city is full of the most beautiful streets and architecture and the food is always amazing! Most recently I was only there fore just 48 hours so needed to cram in as much as possible. These are my 5 must do things in Paris!

Photo 14-04-2017, 12 10 10

French Food On The Champs Elysee

Whether its breakfast, a pit stop mid shopping or a special dinner nothing screams Paris more than Mussels and wine on the Champs Elysee. Most of the restaurants serve the classics and there is usually a table free during the day but if you are looking to go in the evening I would recommend making a reservation some where fabulous and making a night of it! Which ever time of day you are there you will also get some fabulous views of the Arc De Triomphe and its a short walk to stand directly under this huge famous landmark.

My recommendations

Day – George V Cafe

Evening – Fouquet’s

FOU5

The best views of the Eiffle Tower

Although standing under the Eiffel tower and feeling its enormous size is amazing the best views are found slightly further out. I recently stayed at the Shangril-la which had the most spectacular view. Although i was lucky enough to have this view from my room the view can be caught from restaurants and bars inside the hotel. If you want a more casual approach there are so many beautiful parks in Paris which have amazing views, grabbing a croissant while admiring the view on a sunny day is definitely something you need to experience.

Shopping

Of course Paris is world renowned for this shopping and it is a place to tick off your list if you are a keen shopper. With two Zara’s and the largest H&M I’ve ever seen, the high street favourites are definitely covered and of course every fashion house is present. The Louis Vuitton store on the Champ Elysee is always packed out and you will need to queue to get in so if you are after something just so you can own something Louis from the home of the brand then its worth the wait, if you are just looking to browse or don’t want to wait there is another store at the lower end of the Champs Elysee which is must quieter. This Louis is also surrounded by all the big brands so if you are lucky enough to be able to buy a Dior dress with a Gucci bag and Louis Shoes then this area is perfect.

Tuileries Gardens and the Louvre

This part of Paris is beautiful and worth the walk if you are staying more central. The Louvre queues are crazy but if you book a time slot online you can beat the queues so I would recommend planning this in advance.

Photo 15-04-2017, 09 19 43

Tuileries Gardens are spectacular and filled with amazing statues and landscapes. After leaving the Louvre you can wander the gardens and relax around one of the water features with an ice cream as you head back up towards Concord Square.

Photo 16-04-2017, 10 38 48

Moulin Rouge

This last one is not something I have done myself but am desperate to do. This fabulous venue host a full evening of entertainment, food and of course wine! Next time i am in Paris I will definitely be having a night at the Moulin Rouge but for now I’ll have to sing my heart out to Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor. Tickets for the Moulin Rough (not my singing) start at around £85.

A little about Louis – A few things you wont know about the timeless Louis Vuitton

Every month I write for my company’s blog and this month I chose one of the most historic brands I still love today, Louis Vuitton! I spend a huge part of my week authenticating Louis Vuitton and seeing all of the different styles that have been created over the years, the oldest being a Bisten Trunk that was over 60 years old! A Meeting With Me!

photo-26-08-2016-14-42-23

Recently I was asked some questions by a North East Paper regarding my work and goals for the future. I was honoured to be asked as this is feature is normally male dominated, I am proud to be considered as not only a representative of the North East but Business in the region. We posted this at Handbag Clinic on our Blog, (which I regularly write for), along side this being posted by the paper online and in print. Check it out below.

LFW Festival 17th- 21st February

London Fashion Week Festival is the only way to get access to LFW shows and goodies unless you are Kate Moss or Fashion Editor for Grazia. Held this year at 180 The Strand the venue was perfect, with a full length runway, floors of stalls/shops and a Pommery champagne bar there was something for everyone.

photo-24-02-2017-20-01-53

The venue was packed with things to do if you love fashion then seeing Runway shows and experiencing talks from one of the many industry leaders was a must. If you weren’t interested in the serious stuff there was still loads to do with free manicures, make up top up’s by Maybelline, hair touch up’s by Toni and Guy and discount designer shopping. I will definitely be booking up for next year and hopefully booking in for more shows and talks, in fact I’ll just move in for the full festival.

Photo 24-02-2017, 19 42 29.jpg

I saw a Designer runway by Huishan Zhang which was filled with feathers, denim and a twist on the classic floral spring look. I also saw a Trend show from Avenue 32 showcasing the must have looks for spring.

Snow/Ski Proof Beauty Products

I love a snow filled action pack holiday but I also like to make sure I look and feel good while blasting down the slopes. If you are planning a Winter/Ski holiday these beauty products will keep you looking and feeling great!

Elizabeth Arden – Eight Hour Cream

To me, this is miracle cream all year round but I always have some Eight Hour Cream to hand when skiing. The wind, moisture and freezing temperatures take their told on your lips and any exposed skin. If you are lucky enough to have blue skies and sun during a ski trip it will still take its toll on your skin even if you wear sun cream but luckily this magic cream can heal and sooth over night.

10614294-1412327585-128190

Its best to massage this cream into your skin or pile it on is extreme problem areas before going to bed and in the morning you will see an improvement. I also carry round a small tin of this magic cream while on the slopes to make sure dry skin or sore lips isn’t going to ruin my day.

photo-23-01-2017-11-03-14

Eight Hour cream comes in many forms and even comes as a lipstick, both natural and colours so if you really cannot go any where with out your lippy a coloured version will be perfect to look glam while sipping a hot chocolate during amid morning ski break or at Apres Ski!

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream 50ml – £26

Sanex Hydrate 24h Body Lotion

Even though you have on several layers the the cold, moisture and constant change in your body temperature will dry out your skin. In addition to this ski clothes aren’t made of the kindest material  to your skin. The worst mistake you can make is applying a moisturiser which is heavily fragranced to sore, dry skin after skiing. It REALLY stings! For me the best thing to use is Sanex Hydratre 24h Body Lotion, it is fast acting, rich but fast drying and most importantly, it doesn’t sting dry damaged skin!

Samex Hydrate 24h Body Lotion 250ml  – £6 – 7

Maybelline Lash Sensation Waterproof Mascara

Not to be vain but Mascara is something I feel transforms my eyes, I can go from haggard to glam with a coat of a good mascara so it is something I always wear. I recently travelled to the Ice Hotel in Sweden where I was told by the Travel Company Rep the – 20 and lower temperatures meant mascara was a no go unless you wanted to look like a panda. Obviously I set out to prove her wrong!

photo-23-01-2017-10-38-54

My Mabelline Lash Sensation mascara lasts whether I am building fires and making pine needle tea in -30, racing on a snow mobile or whizzing down the slopes, even in the rain and snow.

Although this is a great mascara the trick is to apply it not too heavy and mainly to the ends of the lash, this means even if your eyes water  from the cold of wind you wont end up with black smudges under your eyes.

Maybelline Lash Sensation Waterproof Mascara – £7.99

Andrew Barton SOS Hair Repair Treatment

My hair regularly gets damp or freezes on a snow filled trip, also always wearing helmets or hats can make you feel like you need a good hair pamper. I tried this out after coming back from my last ski trip  and I am so pleased I have found it.

16195390_10154169487671821_3626412200454410303_n

Hair treatments can be expensive and not always worth the high price tag, this SOS hair mask is cheap and really works. The treatment uses Argan Oil, Soy Protein and Shea Butter to give your hair a Vitamin E boost leaving it  feeling nourished and shiny.

The treatment works in just 3 minutes but I left it on for around 10 minutes to really bring my hair back to life after my Ski Trip. You can purchase this treatment in a 250ml tub or a travel sachet and can also get the full range of SOS treatments for under £4 each.

Andrew Barton SOS Hair Repair Treatment 250ml – £3.60
