The holidays are coming to an end and soon the excuse of “Well it is Christmas” will no longer be a valid to get out of putting off work and eating everything in sight. Although I am seriously going to miss eating chocolate for breakfast and partying every night I am really looking forward to 2017! The start of a new year is such an exiting time and the perfect time to make changes, get organised and set some goals. This is what I’ll be doing with the rest of my December to make sure 2017 is everything I want it to be.
1 – Get inspired
Ok so I’m not ready to actually get up and do things yet so I’ll start with eating the rest of my Christmas chocolate and watch a film with a bass ass female lead and an inspiring story. I will be watching Joy but there are so many out there, any of the below are perfect for a good laugh, cry and will make you feel ready to take on anything!
- Devil Wears Prada
- The Help
- Funny Girl
- Hair Spray
- The Blind Side
- How To Be Single
- Bad Moms

2 – Get Ready to Face Anything
I think all girls beat ourselves up to much and spend far too much time worrying! Worrying will just distract you from achieving your goals and add unnecessary negativity to your life. If you are looking for some help to get focused I would recommend Sarah Knight’s, The Life Changing Magic of Not Giving a F**k. With amazing life changing lessons such as drafting a F**k budget and the NotSorry Method you will be able to take on everything whilst not getting bogged down with the small stuff. She has also just released a new book called “Get Your Sh*t Together” which I cannot wait to read!
3 – Get Organised
So enough homework, time to set some goals. It’s always best to write down your goals to make them real, I am going to write mine in a notebook and keep it on my bedside table, so I can always be reminded of why doing the things I am doing are worth it! Waking up at 5:30am and seeing why you set the alarm in the first place will defiantly make it less tempting to have 5 more minutes. I also am going to seal everything I want to achieve into an envelope and open it at the end of 2017, I’m hoping it will be a nice surprise at the end of the year!
4 – Press Reset
The holidays take their toll, over indulging, alcohol, late nights and partying have such a high effect on your health and appearance. I will be having a pamper day to wash away 2016 and be ready for the new year. I will have an evening or face masks, hair masks, nails and a huge bubble bath to hit reset and feel refreshed! I have posted recently about natural winter hacks which would be perfect for a pamper day, link below.

5 – Get Positive and Focused
It’s so easy to sink into negative thinking and bad habits, clear all of that out before 2017! With out sounding too cheesy the best way to stay positive and focused is yoga or meditation. If you are going to make any lifestyle changes in 2017 I would recommend taking up one of these and doing it daily. Apps like Headspace are perfect if you don’t know where to start with meditation and taking 10 minutes out of your day to practice will be worth while.
If meditation isn’t for you then Yoga is just as good. I started to practice Yoga at the end of 2015 and I am going to start making time for it daily in 2017. You don’t need to take expensive classes or invest in yoga pants with a matching sports top if you don’t want to. Yoga mats can be picked up for around £15 and its easy to find a practices on You Tube that you can follow . My favourite is Yoga With Adrian there is a video for every timeframe, ailment, energy level and experience level. She is also really likeable and makes it fun which is really important to keep your interest and focus.
Taking up Yoga or Meditation will put you in the right mind-set for the year ahead and (if you can keep it up) will help you achieve your goals!
Happy New Year
